David Eaton

Dr David Eaton, Consultant Medical Oncologist at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust, is the Chair of the Lancashire & South Cumbria Chemotherapy Network Group.


The Network Chemotherapy Group will: -

  • Be the Network's primary source of advice on issues relating to chemotherapy in the network;
  • Be the Group with corporate responsibility to ensure co-ordination and consistency across the network for implementing the chemotherapy measures, implementing the NICE guidance on applicable chemotherapy agents, and for the work of the multi-professional teams;
  • Establish the oncology pharmacy group and the chemotherapy nurses group;
  • Consult with the Network Site Specific Groups on chemotherapy aspects of clinical referral guidelines.
  • Consider strategies and plans for service improvement and service development across the patient pathway, incorporating all aspects of care at appropriate stages of the patient's journey. The aim is to achieve the best possible outcomes and best quality of life for all patients who use Chemotherapy services within the Network.
  • Monitor the use of chemotherapy agents, in particular those that are NICE approved or accessed through the Cancer Drugs Fund.

Members of the CNG will be responsible for feeding back information/decisions from the CNG to their clinical and managerial colleagues.
